If you were to overlay the media bias chart with political bias in academic research, it starts to look very familiar.

As you move left or right to the extremes coverage goes from:
Factual-> Variable reliability-> Selective bias-> Unfair persuasion-> Contains misleading info-> Fabricated data.
I would argue that this is exactly the pattern in social psych today.
Did you ever read the seminal activist book "Rules for Radicals"? It is it a go to for many politicians and activists alike. Practically an instruction manual for the above
